This is a very pretty, well maintained park with a very helpful, accomodating staff. The grounds, restrooms, showers and laundry room were immacultate. The staff is working hard to make the park even better. The lake itself, really a river, is not attractive, with murkey brown looking water and a railroad track across the lake. But if you must stay in the Clarkston, WA/ Lewiston, ID (twin cities) area, this is a good place.

This is a fairly new park, with all paved sites and new hookup pedestals. The facilities are all modern and very clean. It has the river on one side, and unfortunately, a railroad siding on the other. The siding is not used, but is ugly as can be. The park's website shows a large fish mural behind the office building. The mural does not exist, it is added in to the website. Instead, you see abandoned rail cars. The other unfortunate thing is that the park is new, and although the owners have planted many small trees, they are still small and offer no shade yet. It is very, very hot with no grass anywhere. Where there is not paving, there is crushed rock. The owners are super, and have planted flowers in beds everywhere they can, and eventurally, the trees will provide some shade. We would stay here again, but not in the summer months, it is just too hot.

This park is NOT big rig friendly. The roads are very narrow with trees limbs hanging over the roads. It was impossible to get into the park entrance, even going the wrong way, without scraping the tops and sides of our 40' motor home. In addition, weeds were 3 feet high around the water and electric hookups, and the supposed sewer hookup was a cast iron pipe that came out of the ground and turned back down toward the ground. It was so old that our sewer connection would not screw in, and had we tried to dump, the effluent would have run backwards out on the ground. The park was extremely noisy with screaming kids (yes, I know kids scream, but not like this) and barking dogs. Staff did nothing to control either one, and in fact, when I tried to talk to 3 camp hosts sitting near their rigs, they practically ignored me. I had heard Oregon State Parks were among the best in the country, but our first visit to one certainly didn't bear that out. The park has a pretty setting, but needs management. We won't be back.

The actual pad sites here are some of the best we have encountered. They are concrete, with a picnic table and shade shelter and are level. Unfortunately, you leave the nearby freeway and drive about 2 miles in a big loop on dirt roads that takes you right back beside Interstate 25 with all the truck and traffic noise audible all the time. The park is mostly barren, but does have some shade sites on the north side of the park. The fees charged by the Colorado State Park system are exorbitant. Our campsite cost $25 per night, but we had to pay a seperate vehicle fee for the motorhome and our towed vehicle of $6 each, which made the total per night $37. We will not stay there again.

This is a very clean, neat, tidy small park right on the highway and is great for an overnight stop. The owner/manager was very nice and helpful. All the sites are clean, well kept and paved with crushed rock. We will stay here again.

This is a perfect example of supply and demand. There is very little in the way of campgrounds available along this stretch of I-84, and the prices for this KOA certainly reflect it. The campground is neat, clean, and offers some amenities, but the price is way out of line for a dusty overnight stopping place along a freeway. We may have to stay here again, but will try to avoid it.

This rv park has a very pretty setting with a lot of potential, but, unfortunately, it is run down. The interior road is very very narrow and occasionaly overhung with tree branches, forcing us to drive on the grass. The spring fed hot pool was concrete, clean and had a gravel bottom, but the building had parts of the roof missing, and was badly in need of painting and upkeep. It was very dusty near a parking area, but the staff was trying to keep the grass watered on most of the sites. Unfortunately, the staff did not enforce their rules against dogs running off leash, and the barking was very annoying. It is a family type place, so there were children running, and yelling throughout the place. The hot springs themselves were clear and very enjoyable. We will not go back to this campground.

First of all, the people who run this park and associated restaurant are wonderful, friendly people. The food in the restaurant, which includes smoked prime rib, is outstanding. There is free laundry and wifi, and the restrooms and showers, located in the same building as the restaurant, were clean and servicable. That all said, unfortunately, the campground and sites themselves are not in very good shape. The sites are all dirt, and very dusty, and most are not too level. The roads are all dusty dirt. The electrical hookups were in terrible shape, and actually looked downright dangerous. The weekend we were there, unfortunately, coincided with an annual marathon type race, and the campground filled up with tent campers and noisy dogs and kids on every available space, including the common areas which were really not campsites. We ended up leaving a day early. The owner apologized and refunded the money willingly and stated that the race was an unusual event and normally the campground was not that over run. He also stated they were improving the infrastructure. We believe he was sincere and will probably give them another try in the future. Again, we really liked the management, and hope they improve the campground and do well.

The only reason this campground did not get a 10 is because there are no hookups. This is a beautiful National Forest Service Campground located about 4 miles northeast of Stanley and is right on the beautiful Salmon River, the "River of No Return" which was the setting for the movie starring Marilyn Monroe. The sites are all very long, paved, and many are right on the banks of the river. This is one of the few National Forest Campgrounds in this Sawtooth Wilderness area where the roads and sites are fully paved and can handle a big rig. We pulled our 40' motorhome (with ease) head into the site so we could see the river from the windshield. The river was about 30 feet in front of us, with lots of white water boiling over the rocks. The camp manager was gracious and welcomed us like family. We boon docked here for only two nights due to our schedule, but we will definitely return for a longer stay.
